πΏ Plant Care After Delivery
Receiving a live plant is exciting, and a little care in the first few days will help it settle quickly and grow healthy. Follow these simple steps once your Gardenshoppy plant reaches you.
π¦ 1. Tracking Update
Tracking details may take a few hours to reflect on the respective courier companyβs website after dispatch. All shipments are usually updated in the system by evening.
We recommend checking the tracking status regularly. Once the shipment is close to your destination, contacting the respective courier partnerβs delivery office (details shared with you) can help ensure timely delivery and avoid delays.
π¦βοΈ 2. Unboxing Your Plant
Unbox your plant in a cool, shaded, and wellβventilated area. Gently remove the outer packing. Plants may be tied together for safe transitβcarefully cut the ties and separate them.
ππ 3. Initial Inspection
Mild leaf drop or slight wilting is normal after shipping stress. Trim any dry or damaged leaves using clean scissors.
βοΈπ€οΈ 4. Light & Placement
Place the plant in bright indirect sunlight or partial shade for the first 7β10 days. Avoid direct sunlight during this recovery period to prevent leaf burn.
Shade does not mean keeping the plant in a dark area. Ensure the plant is kept in a wellβlit space with good air circulation and proper ventilation. Only harsh, direct sunlight should be avoided during the initial recovery phase.
π§πΏ 5. Watering
Check the soil moisture regularly. Keep the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged, as overwatering can damage a stressed plant.
Always use anti-chlorine / non-chlorinated water when possible. Make sure the pot has proper drainage so excess water can escape easily.
Adjust watering based on your local climate and temperatureβhot weather may require slightly more frequent watering, while cooler or humid conditions need less. Maintaining the right balance is essential, and with proper watering, the plant will recover naturally.
π±π§ͺ 6. Fertilisation
Once the plant feels stable and shows signs of recovery, fertilisation can be started after about one week. In most cases, plants recover well within this period.
The best time to fertilise is when you repot the plant into a new pot.
β’ Organic option: If you prefer bio/organic fertilisers, apply a light dose of neem cake and well-decomposed cow dung. Do not overuse, as young or recovering plants need gentle feeding.
β’ Chemical option: If using NPK fertilisers, apply only a small tablespoon per pot. You may use Factamfos (20-20-0-13), which provides:
- Nitrogen (N) for healthy leafy growth
- Phosphorus (P) for strong roots and flowering
- Sulphur (S) for overall plant health
Factamfos contains nitrogen in an easily absorbed ammoniacal form, making it suitable for most plants when used in low doses. Always avoid over-fertilising, as balance is key for healthy recovery.
πͺ΄π 7. Repotting
Once the plant looks stable and healthy, you can transplant it into a pot with good drainage and fresh, wellβaerated potting mix. Handle the roots gently to avoid damage.
If you plan to plant it directly in the ground, it is best to first keep the plant in a pot under shade for at least one month. This helps the plant fully recover from shipping stress. Alternatively, ensure the planting area is well covered with proper shade initially. Gradually remove the shade only after the plant shows healthy new growth.
8. Ongoing Care
With proper care, new leaves and branches will start appearing soon. Continue regular watering, light feeding, and gradual sun exposure.
